కృతయుగంలో జహ్నుడు అనే రాజు ఉండేవాడు. అతనికి అజహ్నుడు అనే కుమారుడు, వల్లభుడు అనే మనుమడు ఉండేవారు. వల్లభుడుకి
కుమారుడు కుశికుడు, మనవడు
కౌశికుడు అతనే గాధి. కౌశికునికి ఒక కూతురు కూడా. ఆమె పేరు సత్యవతి. ఆమె రుచీకుడు అనే ఋషి భార్య.
గొప్ప నిష్టతో, మంత్రోచ్ఛారణతో రుచీకుడు ఒక యాగం చేశాడు. తరువాత ఆయన
హవిర్భాగాన్ని (హవిస్సు+భాగం) తీసుకొని రెండు భాగాలు చేశాడు. (హవిర్భాగం, హవిస్సులో భాగం, హవిస్సు అంటే దేవతల కోసం యాగం యొక్క పవిత్ర అగ్నిలో సమర్పించే నెయ్యి). ఒకటి తన భార్య సత్యవతికి, ఇది జ్ఞానోదయం పొందిన సాత్విక భావంతో వుండే కుమారుడిని కలిగిస్తుంది.
మరియు రెండవ భాగం చాలా కాలంగా కొడుకు కోసం ప్రార్థిస్తున్న సత్యవతి తల్లి మరియు గాధి భార్య కోసం. ఆ రెండవ భాగం ప్రపంచ ప్రఖ్యాత క్షత్రియుడిని, యోధుడిని ఇస్తుంది.
అయితే ఆ తల్లీకూతుళ్ళు పొరపాటున ఒకరి కొరకు ఉద్దేశించిన హవిర్భావాన్ని ఇంకొకరు తిన్నారు. కొన్ని నెలల తరువాత, రుచీకుడు తన భార్య గర్భాన్ని గమనించి, హవిర్భాగపు గందరగోళాన్ని గ్రహించి, తన భార్యకు తెలిపాడు. ఆమె ఆశ్చర్యపోయి,
క్షత్రియ అంశతో వున్న కొడుకును కనడం తనకు ఇష్టం లేదని, ఏదైనా చేయమని భర్తని కోరింది. అప్పుడు రుచీకుడు ఆమెకు గొప్ప జ్ఞానవంతుడైన, ధార్మికుడైన కొడుకును కంటావు అని వరమిచ్చాడు. అయితే, క్షత్రియ తేజస్సుతో ఉన్న హవిర్భాగము తినటము వలన, అతని కుమారుడు, సత్యవతి మనుమడు క్షత్రియ స్వభావము కలిగిన పరాక్రమవంతుడిగా జన్మిస్తాడు అని చెప్పాడు.
గాధి భార్య విశ్వామిత్రుడికి జన్మనిచ్చింది, అతను క్షత్రియుడిగా జన్మించినప్పటికీ జీవితంలో తరువాత తపస్సుతో తాపసి అయ్యాడు.
సత్యవతి జమదగ్నికి జన్మనిచ్చింది. జమదగ్ని కుమారుడు పరశురాముడు.
కార్తవీరార్జునుడు తన తండ్రికి చేసిన తప్పుకు ప్రతీకారం తీర్చుకోవడానికి పరశురాముడు అతన్ని చంపి, భూమిపై క్షత్రియులను నిర్మూలిస్తానని ప్రతిజ్ఞ చేసి, 21మార్లు ప్రపంచాన్ని చుట్టి రాజులందరినీ చంపాడు.
క్షత్రియ రక్తంతో, అతను ఐదు చెరువులను నిర్మించి పితృతర్పణం చేసాడు. వాటిని శమంతక పంచకం అంటారు. అవి కురుక్షేత్రం దగ్గర ఉన్నాయి.
తరువాత పరశురాముడు యుద్ధాల ద్వారా గెలిచిన భూమి మొత్తాన్ని కశ్యప ప్రజాపతికి దానం ఇచ్చాడు.

Once upon a time in Krita yuga was a king Jahnudu. He had a son Ujahnudu and grandson Vallabhudu Vallabhudu's
son was Kushikudu and grandson was
Kaushikudu a.k.a. Gaadhi. Kaushikudu's daughter was Satyavathi. She is married to Ruchēkudu.
Ruchēkudu with great nishta and chanting, performed a yagam and procured two
Havirbhagams. Havissu is ghee offered in yagam for Gods. Havirbhagam is the left off portion of the havissu. One for his wife Satyavathi which will produce enlightened satvik son.
And the second portion was for Satyavathi's mother, Gadhi's wife, who was praying for a son. The second portion is to give a world renowned kshatriya, with undaunted warrior character.
However the ladies ate havirbhavam meant for one another. After sometime, Ruchēkudu observed His wife's belly and realised the mix up of havirbhagam and informed his wife. She was shocked and requested him to do something as she was not happy to have a warrior as son. Then Ruchēkudu blessed her to have a great knowledgeable, dharmic son. However, his son, and Satyavathi's grand son will be born valiant, with kshatriya character.
Gaadhi's wife gave birth to Vishwamitra, who by birth kshatriya, however by character later in life, with penance became a saint.
Satyavathi gave birth to Jamadagni. Jamadagni's son was Parasurama.
Parasurama to avenge wrongdoing to his father by Kārtavērārjuna, killed him and vowed to wipe out kshatriya clan from the face of earth and went around the world 21 times killing all the kings.
With the blood of kshatriya clan, he created five ponds and performed pitrutarpanam. They are called Shamantaka panchakam. They are near Kurukshétram.
Later Parasurama gave away whole of earth he won through wars to Kashyapa Prajapati.
